This particular car was owned by its previous keeper for over ten years during which time it underwent a thorough and carefully documented restoration. The result is an MG Midget that not only looks fantastic at first glance but also impresses when inspected close up with its high quality paint finish and excellent panel fit. The restoration is supported by a substantial file of receipts and invoices, all available in our office and clearly shows the care, detail and investment that went into the car.
Under the bonnet has not been forgotten during the restoration with the 1491cc lead free engine being housed in an engine bay that presents to the same high standard as the rest of the car. The original Rostyle style road wheels have been professionally refurbished to complete the car’s smart exterior. Adding to the car’s appeal, the car benefits from a virtually new Black vinyl roof and is now equipped with a discreet but purposeful roll bar in the cabin, bringing both a sporting edge and additional occupants safety.
Originally launched in 1961 as a fun and affordable two seater sports car, the MG Midget quickly earned a reputation for its nimble handling and spirited driving. By 1974 the model had evolved into this 1500 variant, the final and most powerful version of the Midget. This gave the car improved torque and usability, particularly for modern roads while retaining its lightweight, back to basics character. The 1500 saw the introduction of the revised front end and rubber bumper designed to meet US safety regulations and making it easily recognisable as the last chapter in the Midget’s storied life.
